about

These are my earliest recordings dating back to 1981/82 when I had fairly primitive equipment (see below) and could barely afford a reel of tape. I have kept the recordings pretty much as they were (no overdubs), just adding a splash of reverb / noise reduction, etc on some tracks.

Some pieces were composed for 'Quark Video' - a Science Fiction videozine directed by brilliant young SFX animator Kevin Davies who went on to work on TV's 'Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy', 'Terrorhawks', Disney productions and the best-selling '42:The Improbable Ideas of Douglas Adams'.

All profits on this release will go to Parkinsons UK charity.

Composed, played and produced by Peter Beasley for Metalbottle Records, London, 1981-82. Remastered 2020.

Digital download release: 27 November 2020

Equipment: Transcendent 2000 synthesizer (modified for custom digital sequencer), Casiotone 201, Boss DR55 Dr. Rhythm, Roland SH-3A synthesizer (tracks 3, 12 and 20), worn out Watkins Copicat echo unit, Pearl Maxwin drums, Zildjian and Paiste cymbals, guitar, Carlsbro PA amp (original reverb), REW 6/4 mixer, knackered TEAC 4-track recorder, Magix Audio Cleaning Lab (2020 reverb).

I'd like to thank my brother David for constructing the Transcendent 2000 synthesizer and designing and building the digital sequencer and to Mike Titchen for loan of the Roland synthesizer.
